Ryan is a Founder and Managing Director of 18Forty8 Private Wealth, after spending almost 20 years at Merrill Lynch. He not only served as a Wealth Management Advisor, but also as a training coordinator coaching new advisors towards successful careers. Ryan enjoys building long-term, personal relationships with his clients, specifically: professional athletes, collegiate football coaches and families. He is passionate about understanding their unique stories and connecting them to best practices in wealth management and always being a resource to the client and their family.
Ryan earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics and German and his MBA in Strategic Management from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He holds numerous professional designations: he is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional; earned the Sports & Entertainment – Accredited Wealth Management Advisor™ designation (SE - AWMA™); earned the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor℠ (CRPC®); and holds the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CPFA) designation. Ryan is also a NFLPA Registered Player Financial Advisor, awarded by the NFL Players Association. Ryan was previously named to the Forbes “Team Member – Best-In-State Wealth Management Teams” list in 20231, the “Forbes Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors Best-in-State” list in 20192 and to the Forbes/Shook “America’s Next Gen Advisors” list in 20183.
Ryan is passionate about his community, focused on his health and wellness and, most importantly, a proud father and spouse. Ryan was born and raised in Madison and is an avid Wisconsin Badger fan. He is a Founding Member of 100 Men of Dane County, a non-profit organization providing quarterly grants of $100,000 to local agencies serving the most at-risk children in our community.
Ryan has previously served on the Board of Directors of: United Way of Dane County; Domestic Abuse Intervention Services (DAIS); and University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. Ryan and his family continue to support and volunteer for each of these organizations.
Ryan and his wife, Abby, are extremely active and enjoy playing golf, exercising and attending Badger sporting events. Ryan is living with Crohn’s disease, a chronic autoimmune disease affecting the GI system. He is thankful for the incredible medical care in Madison that helps him live a relatively normal life.
Ryan and Abby have two wonderful children – a daughter, Elin (born in 2016) and a son, Reilly (born in 2018). They enjoy the fulfillment that children bring to their life and the love and laughter that parenthood has provided them.
